Governance & Policies

As an independent school, Newcastle Waldorf School is guided by a dedicated Board of Directors. The Board ensures that our school upholds its core values and educational principles while providing strategic leadership, financial oversight, and policy direction.

The Board meets twice each school term to guarantee that we remain true to our mission of fostering holistic, creative, and compassionate learning environments. By involving a diverse group of experienced and committed individuals, the Board ensures our school’s continued growth and alignment with both the Steiner philosophy and the broader school needs.

The Board of Directors comprises elected members from the Newcastle Waldorf School (NWS) Association. The NWS Association includes members of the College of Teachers, as well as parents and carers who choose to become members. Parents and carers who are interested in joining the Board as a Director may nominate for election, provided they are members of the NWS Association and submit their nomination prior to the Annual General Meeting. Bruce Hansen currently serves as the Chairperson of our Board. With a long-standing history and deep connection to the school, Bruce brings invaluable knowledge and experience to our governance. Newcastle Waldorf School sincerely appreciates Bruce’s dedicated and voluntary commitment, which plays a vital role in our ongoing success.

Acknowledgment of Traditional landowners

We would like to acknowledge and give respect to the Awaba Custodians past, present and emerging who care for the land, waterways, skyways, animals, and people of the area in which we learn and play. We would like to honour the spiritual guidance and the depth of understanding within the story-telling traditions and interactions with Country of all First Nations peoples. Within Muloobinba Waldorf Minamba, we acknowledge that our community are on Lands that were never ceded and openly accept our responsibility to walk in truthful songlines for a connected future.
